DS Performance Brake Pads

Ferodo DS Performance brake pads are designed for the driver who demands the ultimate in braking performance. They provide the kind of braking power normally associated with racing cars - all without the need to build up and maintain high operating temperatures.

DS2500

The DS2500 compound is primarily designed for HIGH PERFORMANCE ROAD USE. However, its excellent speed and temperature sensitivity characteristics make DS2000 also suitable for RACING applications.

The DS2500 is a personal favourite here at SHM, braking effort remains constant at any speed and at any temperature that the brake system is working at.

A minimum of 250/300 miles product life can be expected under RACING CONDITIONS, this can of course be significantly higher. For high performance road use pads can offer up to 40,000 miles of product life, dependent upon driving style and road conditions.

DS3000

DS3000 is Ferodo's premium racing compound and has set the standard across circuit racing and the World Rally Championship.

The main characteristics of the DS3000 compound are:

reduced bedding in time (approximately 50% quicker than other materials)
extremely high friction level (0,62 coefficient of friction) at any temperature or speed
higher initial bite
predictability, in all conditions, when braking into the corner because of the flat friction curve
less off brake between the brake pedal and throttle

When using this material with light inertia racing cars, as a general rule, it is necessary to apply less brake pedal pressure than you would normally expect. This will avoid over-braking and the generation of excessive heat in the braking system and discs.

4003

4003 is a compound that was specifically developed for light inertia cars (i.e. Formula 3, Ford, Opal, Vauxhall, Renault, Campus...) and Rally use. 4003 is the most commonly used pad, across the world, in F3 championships. 4003 can also be used in the rear axle of front traction racing cars (off road, asphalt, track).

The main characteristics of 4003 are:

short bedding in time
high friction level at any speed or temperature (0,48 coefficient of friction)
excellent initial bite
predictability and reliability when braking into the corner

This family of materials has been developed from our involvement in motorsport. The first material M1144 is mainly used for fast road use and is primarily targeted at hot hatch drivers. The other three materials M1155, M1166 and M1177 are specifically for circuit and rally competition use only.
