By increasing the contact pressure by a factor of 30%, considerable advantages have been achieved in terms of clutch slip, controlling excessive wear and shudder, even for hard-driving situations. Nevertheless, the pedal pressure is changed only by a very small factor, and the smoothness of operation is equivalent to that of the production component. Although the clutch design is a small pull type clutch, the clutch cover boasts a design torque of 740 K and incredible strength; furthermore, a high degree of durability has also been achieved.

Fly Wheel
Reduced weight for better acceleration
Dynamically balanced
New bolts included
To achieve an equal balance in the flywheel/clutch assembly a rotation balance of 1.2 kg/cm2 has been implemented for all products, therefore all the drill holes are slightly different. After considerable testing with a wide range of bench, driving, and circuit tests to determine optimum balance, a weight of 4.2 kg has been adopted for the flywheel.
The most popular type of diaphragm spring clutch where the release bearing is pushed against the diagphragm spring fingers (ie. toward the flywheel) to release the clutch.
Pull Clutch
This type of clutch has the release bearing fulcrum insede the clutch and requires the diaphragm spring fingers to be pulled (ie. away from the flywheel) in order to release the clutch. Although generally more complex in terms of release mechanism, pull types are more effiecient in terms of clamp and release loads.
Carbon clutches are very durable but not indestructible!
The clutches in the AP Racing Special High Performance Range are uprated units basically based on a standard production item.
They are intended for special applications where a higher than standard level of performance is required, eg. in competition use of when the engine/vehicle perfomance has been increased.
In most cases the clutches in this range can be fitted to the original flywheel with-out modification and the standard release mechanism is retained but there are exceptions.
Race Clutches
Competition Sintered and Cerametallic Clutch Systems.
These clutches have designated Sintered or Cerametallic, sometimes called "Paddle", clutches. This refers to the type of driven plate that is used in the clutch. Both types of driven plate are available with a comprehensive range of spline sizes to suit a wide range of popular applications.
Sharp response and straight transmission of power.
USE
For both competition and road with excellent maneuver.
Easy to slip in, diaphragm designed for smooth and light use. A light clutch that enables good clutch maneuvers.
HEAT RESISTANT
Improved higher, low friction and high heat resistant
Carbon rich facing used on the disc with ventilated type centre blade
DURABILITY
Self leveling offers longer clutch life
The self leveling system balances equal wear on both the flywheel and transmission side of the disc to promote longer clutch life.
Super Single Clutch
Offers 1280kg/f and 400ps
A lightweight clutch that offers smooth shifting
USE
High performance with good clutch maneuver
A light maneuver is required even with a high performance clutch. The Super Single clutch has the diaphragm lever ratio modified with a light pedal as any sporty clutches on the market.
DESIGN
Usability and high power transmission balanced on a high level
Material interface and size matching has been made possible by mass production. Designed and developed from zero, high performance and easy use has been compatible at a high level.
DURABILITY
A powerful 1280kg/f (12550N/f) surpassing twin plate clutches
With CUSCO's original setting of the diaphragm lever ratio, we have realized a pressure figure of 1280kg/f (12550N/f) and capable of handing 400ps and 40kg/f output.
Hyper Single Clutch
The clutch for those who want more than the usual reinforced clutch with the pedal feel of OEM.
USE
A light pedal and easy slipping in
The strut drive type design using the strut brace/leaf spring allows better feel and response to the driver.
SET INTERCHANGEABLE
Use and power transmission balanced at high levels
The clutch cover, disc and flywheel is all interchangeable and offers higher performance than the production interchangeable reinforced type clutch. Material and size to suit.
PRESSURE
Production feel durable up to 10000kg/f
SILENT
No clanking sounds when the pedal is depressed
Rocket Clutch Disk/Rocket Clutch Cover
Lightweight disc and cover
Sharp feel and response
Cutting edge thin clutch disc enables sharp response and feel
By developing the clutch disc and clutch cover as a set, we aimed for ultimate thinness and lightness. Controlling inertia and shortening the synchro timing enables swift gear shifts.
PRESSURE
High strength at high revs
The reinforced clutch cover is capable of approximately 1000kg/f (depending on the car to a degree). The set development bore a good match for a powerful transmission.
STRENGTH & DURABILITY
Strong enough to withstand all tough clutch treatment
Ultimately thin, heat resistant and durable, the pressure plates of the clutch disc and cover have increased in strength. The strap plate that connects the pressure plate and clutch cover have also been greatly reinforced.
USE
Easy pedal effort with upgraded contact pressure
The turnover type has been used for a lighter clutch with a heavy rate clutch cover. The light clutch enables easy maneuver without the feel of a high contact pressure.
BALANCED
A lighter disc and cover set developed
Super Light Chrome Molybdenum Fly Wheel
Design, machined and lightness explored for even rotation
Not just light, the cutting edge design enables even rotation even from the low revs
RESPONSE
The lightness enables swift revs up or down
LIGHTWEIGHT PERFORMANCE
The chrome molybdenum steel is precision machined by CNC machinery
USE
The revs go up and down swiftly for quicker gear shifts
FASTER TIMES
Faster times gained on 0-400m accelerations runs and mid range gear accelerations.
* This chrome molybdenum steel flywheel is only for cars with manual transmission
Metal Reinforced Clutch Disc
The metal faced disc will meet your most rugged requirements.
Slipping in the clutch is just like the production version.
A combined exchange with CUSCO's reinforced clutch cover will give that extra performance.
Reinforced Clutch Cover
Heightens the set loads in good balance for a sure transmission of power.
Excellent release and sharp clear operation.
Best performance is gained with use.
Non Asbesto Reinforced Clutch Disc
Specially designed non asbesto faced disc. Enables ease of slipping in the clutch for better car control
Heat resistant material used to cope with heat generated from frequent gear shifts.
Anti burst with reinforced stop pin for higher safety.
