In addition to strength and durability characteristics, which are equal to or better than those of standard components, this cross gear set features an optimized step-up ratio. Which, when combined with the final drive set, allows for a choice in final drive ratios to gear the car to suit differing race circuits or choose between maximum acceleration or maximum top speed. This final drive set is implemented through replacement of the standard counter shaft and ring gear, thus allowing free selection of the final reduction ratio. Furthermore, the counter shaft is a common part with regard to both the 4.643 and 4.857 types, and by combining with a cross gear set, it is possible to achieve a wide variety of maximum speeds and final drive gearing ratios. This allows the car to be geared better to suit different tracks or change the final drive gear for increased acceleration or top speed.

The power output from the engine, clutch, and transmission is directed to the differential through the propeller shaft. At Spoon, we carry out the required additional operations to increase the rotation balance of this component from the production level of 1.3 kg/cm2 to a new level of 1.2 kg/cm2, this allows a much smoother and more efficient power transmission (vibration saps power!). Note that this rotation-balance value is adopted as standard for all flywheel and brake-rotor components and although it only looks like a small improvement it offers a considerable improvement in driving feel and power flow.

By making this modification to the shift linkage, there is a more solid and precise shifting feel. Highly recommended for cars older than 50,000km, as normal use over time will have weakened the metal at the end of the change rod, making shifting feel sloppy and soft.
