A differing degree of load will always be applied to the car's left and right driven wheels when cornering or accelerating due to the inner wheel running a shorter distance then the outer wheel when cornering. As a result, the standard differential allows torque to escape to the drive wheel with the lowest load whenever the accelerator is depressed or released; consequently, it becomes no longer possible to achieve ideal grip during cornering nor optimum control of the vehicle during acceleration. The purpose of the LSD is to control this escaping torque by restricting the differential's action and splitting the load in a more controlled manner between the driven wheels, it does this by monitoring the differences in speed and torque between the left and right wheels.

Limited Slip Differentials

Two basic types of limited slip differentials are available depending on how the initial torque is created;

Type-RS : Low initial torque type using RS springs
Type-MZ : Initial torque created by the cone plates

With CUSCO's LSD, you may change the setting during your overhaul with no additional parts required.

With CUSCO's one way LSD, you can adjust the angle of activation
A two cam type is available for FWD cars
With CUSCO's One Way LSD for FWD cars, you can choose from two angles of activation: 35 degrees or 45 degrees. Angles may be selected on purchase or changed when the LSD is in for maintenance.

CUSCO's MZ plate grooves are cut radially enabling instant oil movement, and improved efficiency and durability.
The MZ plate surface is polished for an even contact with the pressure rings. Also, CUSCO's Oil Through System enhances the efficiency performance.
